Town Council Meeting

I attended the Town Council meeting and have several comments:

First, it's good to see kids rewarded for attaining the Eagle Scout rank and raising money for autism. Although they probably don't believe it, they will remember that for a long time.

Second, while those same young people will remember being presented awards in front of Council, the kids who were promised a skate park three years ago will always remember that their local government let them down. A group of young people took the initiative to collect signatures and approach Council with their thoughts on the project, they were promised that it would be done by the summer of '04. It is now nearly winter of '05 and nothing has been done.

Ironically, one of the Eagle Scouts was cited for organizing a group and repairing the skate park in Medford.

This issue seems to be revisited every so often and never seems to get off the ground.

The Council did give permission to Mr. Sasdelli to put the project out to bid, but it will cost thousands more now then if it had been done when those kids presented their case three years ago.

Bonnie Olt was not sworn in as the election has not been certified for some reason. She was in attendance however.

I had to leave at 9:00 but several other members of this site remained and can update as necessary.
